WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – Yesterday, the Navajo Nation Council passed legislation #402-16 (402). The intent of 402 is to reduce the number of the Board of Commissioners for the Navajo Housing Authority from eight to five and to increase the qualifications for the board. New members will be required to have professional qualifications and credentials in the housing, architecture, business, development and contracting. NHA vows to deliver a strong governance system as we continue to deliver on the important mission of bringing affordable housing to the Navajo Nation. Before this legislation becomes law, the Navajo Nation President must sign the bill. While we await the president’s decision NHA will continue to push for meeting its housing goals.
