The Navajo Housing Authority, located in Window Rock, Arizona, is seeking an experienced leader to join a dedicated staff in managing the largest Indian Housing Authority in the nation. With a staff of 368 personnel spread across 15 field offices, the new CEO will manage the organization under the direction of a five-member Board of Commissioners. Federal grant funding in the range of $80 – $90 million annually is a key component of the budget, and to date the Navajo Housing Authority has spent over $1 billion towards housing projects.
Ideal candidates will be able to modernize the organization and play an influential role in improving the socioeconomic standing of the Navajo Nation. A working knowledge of public housing – if not Indian housing – is crucial, and fluency in the Navajo language is desirable, but not required. Competitive candidates will have fifteen years of progressively responsible management experience and a Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a related field – a Master’s degree is preferred.
